Steinwandklamm natural experience
The Steinwandklamm is a popular destination for families, especially on hot days. Of course, because it is often 10° cooler in the high rocky gorges of the Steinwandklamm than in the rest of the Triestingtal. Children in particular love the adventurous and varied route of the Steinwandklamm. The entire route from the starting point to the Jagasitz inn takes around 45 minutes to walk, with a total difference in altitude of 100 m. By the way: Probably the most famous hiker through the Steinwand Gorge was Emperor Franz Josef.

Tip:
Via ferrata equipment, helmet and a short safety rope for children/beginners, possibly a flashlight for the Türkenloch.
opening hours:
April to October, open all day
entrance fees:
low maintenance fee

Old:
For smaller children (around 4 years) we recommend the path on the right-hand side of the Rudolf-Decker-Steig. Depending on their skill level, older children (5-6 years) can tackle the Rudolf-Decker-Steig themselves. With the long ladder, an adult should always climb halfway under the child, giving them additional security. Younger children in particular should be additionally secured! The way back through the Steinwandklamm is suitable for children from about 7-8 years.

Laxenburg Castle Park
The historic landscaped garden of Laxenburg Castle makes children's hearts beat faster: Little knights love to marvel at the tournament grounds or the weapons collection in the Franzensburg Castle, and princesses enjoy a ride in a pony carriage or a boat trip on the castle pond. The huge playground invites you to romp about freely. And when everyone is tired, the "Laxenburg-Express" panorama train makes another round through the castle park.

Opening hours:
The castle park is open all year round and all day
The Franzensburg is open from Easter to November 1st

Entrance fees for park entry:
Children up to 14 years (with student ID up to 18 years) free
Adults: €1.80

Sparbach Nature Park
The appeal of the 350-hectare area lies in the Biedermeier-like landscape structure between closed forest with spruce, black and red pine, as well as beech trees and extensive meadows. Johann von Liechtenstein had the landscape designed with romantic ruins – Köhlerhaus, Dianatempel and Johannstein – in keeping with the spirit of the times. Carp, pike, zander and brown trout cavort in the "Lenau-Teich", named after the Austrian poet Nikolaus Lenau. Mandarin ducks with their colorful plumage also make their rounds here. Open from April to October and during the winter holidays.

Tip: The hiking trail “Between giant trees and romantic ruins” runs through the Sparbach Nature Park.

Föhrenberge Nature Park

The 6,500 hectare Föhrenberge nature park stretches from Perchtoldsdorf on the southern outskirts of Vienna via Mödling to Gumpoldskirchen. The characteristic umbrella pine trees in this part of the limestone Vienna Forest give the area its name. There are many extensive meadows with rest areas. A special attraction are the dry grasslands near Perchtoldsdorf (Perchtoldsdorfer Heide) with their ground squirrel population. Special hiking destinations are the hussar temple and the ruins of Mödling Castle.
